Sitges is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Spain. A jewel located on the Costa Dorada, south of Barcelona. Between beaches of fine sand and beaches of rock and stones, from the port of Aiguadolç across the well-known beaches of Balmins and Ribera to Playa del Muerto, protected by the Garraf massif, Sitges enjoys a unique microclimate that makes it the preferred destination for tourists throughout the year.
The small fishing village it was in the past has become an incredible coastal town. Its promenade, flanked by lush palm trees, its church nestling in a defensive bastion and the beach of San Sebastián make it unique and unrivalled. The town still maintains a strong link with its traditional past, proof of which is its quaint historic quarter and a rich and significant artistic and historical legacy that is reflected in an extensive calendar of events and festivities for everyone.
It is said that Sitges is a constant party and that is, to some extent, correct. The carnival in Sitges is very popular and attracts thousands of tourists from all over the world; during the Corpus Christi festivities, the streets of the town are covered with floral cloaks of all colours; the Gay Pride celebration in June is one of the most popular events as the whole town participates in an unforgettable party; the Fiesta Mayor, in August, with its incredible fireworks…
But even if there is no event, Sitges maintains its relaxed, bohemian character and invites visitors to sunbathe on one of its beaches, sit on one of its terraces and enjoy Mediterranean cuisine or, why not, take a stroll and immerse themselves in an afternoon of shopping in the pedestrian area that covers most of the historic centre.
The sun shines more than 300 days a year in Sitges – sun, sea, culture and fun!
